Resilience Villages are strategically designed physical spaces open to the public (regardless if you are a client) where people come to heal deeply from trauma and grow resilience to manage the challenges ahead.
Resilience Villages
Resilience Village is a research-based clinic and community space designed to comprehensively treat trauma. Trauma and trauma-related disorders cannot be fully healed through talk therapy alone. The neurological effects of trauma impact the whole body, so healing psychological trauma requires a village of healers. Resilience Villages employ psychologists and mental health counselors who are trained in trauma-informed modalities and partner with allied healing professionals using evidence-based practices for treating trauma.
Some of these partners practice trauma-informed yoga, somatic art therapy, drumming, nature, and trauma-informed medical message for treating trauma and growing capacity. Resilience Villages are strategically designed physical spaces open to the public (regardless if you are a client) where people come to heal deeply from trauma and grow resilience to manage the challenges ahead.

Village Practitioners
Dr. Kari O'Grady
Dr. O'Grady is a licensed clinical psychologist with a focus on being with people in their suffering and fostering resilience. Her extensive experience includes leading teams to address collective trauma in various locations worldwide, publications on trauma and resilience, and training hundreds of psychologists and mental health clinicians. She has served in leadership roles within the American Psychological Association. Known for her compassionate approach, she specializes in trauma-focused therapy and consultation, operating from an ecological perspective in both clinical practice, training, and research. Dr. O'Grady is the CEO of Resilience Villages and the Center for Resilience Leadership. She leads this team of exceptional practitioners!
Kennedy Demboski
Kennedy is an empathetic and understanding clinical mental health counselor who focuses on helping people heal and develop resilience. Kennedy uses a blend of evidenced-based therapeutic approaches to support clients through their unique circumstances. She is trained in EMDR, DBT, TF-CBT, the ARC early childhood trauma treatment model, and child-focused play therapy. Kennedy has advanced training in the evidence-based suicial intervention model--CAMS and CAMS4rteens. She has worked with teens and children in acute hospital settings, teens and adolescents in residential treatment, and children and adults in outpatient settings. She works with all client populations including LGBQI+ clients and addresses most mental health issues including personality disorders, conduct disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and self-harm. Kennedy works to create a safe and welcoming environment to allow clients of all ages to feel comfortable discussing their experiences and feelings. Kennedy offers services in English and Spanish.
David Briggs
Psychological Testing and Talk Therapy
David Briggs, Ed.S., NCSP, has experience working with children, adolescents and young adults in various settings with everything from anxiety, anger and depression to ADHD, Autism and ODD. He has extensive psychological testing experience having worked as a school psychologist and in private practice. Areas of testing expertise include: cognitive, academic, personality, social, emotional, behavioral, adaptive, autism, ADHD and executive functioning. David’s therapy approach is grounded in trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with elements of mindfulness and acceptance. He works primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of mental health issues including ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, and behavioral disorders.
Camille Anderson
Trauma-informed Psychotherapy
Camille contributes decades of experience to the Resilience Village in Orem, having worked with many populations and settings to reduce human suffering. Her therapeutic work is founded in research based holistic, humanistic, developmental and trauma-informed theories. She most frequently incorporates nonviolent communication, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies, internal family systems, and mindfulness therapies. She collaborates with clients in all stages of their treatment, and fiercely prioritizes client autonomy, agency, and values as primary agents of change. Making space for laughter in therapy sure seems to help as well. You are the expert around what it’s like to be you, whether it’s anxiety, depression, neurodiversity (ADHD, ASD), relationship struggles, life transitions, unwanted negative impact from traumatic experiences (including sexual trauma), perfectionism, or any combination of LIFE that contributes to poor mental health. Camille is an expert on establishing a therapeutic environment and relationship and offering new perspectives and strategies for facilitating enough resilience to decrease your suffering and maximize your wellbeing.
Sarah Robertson
Talk Therapy, EMDR Children and Adults
Sarah Robertson has a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree. She completed a Bachelor of Psychology in Military Resilience and Masters in Human Services Counseling. One of Sarah’s Internships was in South Korea counseling children and teens. Sarah volunteered throughout Alaska supporting programs in women's health, sobriety, mental health and medical support for Alaska Natives, college opportunities for Alaska residents, and military family support. Sarah has extensive experience working within a clinical setting of inpatient care with adolescent teen girls, and teens and children within an acute setting. She also has experience with the adult population working at Chris Kyle Patriot Hospital with those recovering from PTSD, substance abuse, and any other additional mental health concerns of active and retired military, first responders, and their dependents. She has experience working with those with Trauma, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Bi-Polar, Border Line Personality, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, Substance abuse, and Suicidal Ideation. Sarah utilizes Person-Centered Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT and DBT, Individual, Family and Group Therapy, Play Therapy, Psychodynamic, EMDR, and IFS. She holds a training certificate through DBT and DBT with adolescents and families.
Thomas Yeung
Thomas has extensive experience in recreational therapy, dedicated to enhancing clients' overall well-being. He is passionate about using systematic processes to improve clients' physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual health through an experiential approach to counseling. Specializing in interracial marriages and first-generation immigrant/international students, Thomas possesses a unique understanding of the struggles and perspectives of international students. He was awarded the AAMFT Minority Fellowship in 2022 and named Student of the Year in 2023 by the Utah Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (UAMFT). He holds certifications in Gottman Therapy Level 1, EMDR Basic Training Part 1, CAMS-care training Part 1, and is informed in SFBT, DBT, experiential therapy, and ACT. He can offer services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese.
Brittany Woorwood
Brittany is certified in both Vinyasa and Yin styles of yoga. Vinyasa involves flowing movements synchronized with breath, promoting harmony between mind and body. In contrast, Yin yoga focuses on stillness with passive, longer-held poses targeting deep tissues. She integrates trauma-informed healing into both yoga approaches with the intention of reconnecting people with their bodies. Brittany incorporates sound healing, utilizing specific vibrational frequencies and tones to promote relaxation and healing for mental, emotional, and physical well-being.(allied partner: @balancedbodywithbritt)
Katie Atkinson
Katie is a student at Rocky Mountain University getting a dual Masters in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is empathetic, listening, and aspires to help clients build resilience and facilitate a space for growth. She is accepting just a few clients for her internship and licensure. She is supervised by Kennedy Demboski and Dr. O’Grady, as well as a supervisor from her university. She is looking forward to working with clients from 4 years old to adulthood and in various settings. She has experience working with neurodiversity and anxiety, and is open to working with all client populations including LGBTQIA+. Katie looks to lead group therapy as well as individual.
Village Community Mental Health
A Resilience Village is more than a psychotherapy practice, it is a collaborative space designed to foster communitas --sense of connection and sharing that develops among people who are experiencing a liminal period together (see Eliade, 1971).
The U.S. Surgeon General noted the biggest health crisis of our time is a lack of community. He stated:
To build community requires love. Love not as sentimentality, but as a commanding force with the power to build, strengthen, and heal. Love as generosity and kindness. Love as hope and grace. Love as courage. The love required to build community must not be reserved only for close family and friends or those who share our beliefs and life experiences; it must also be extended to neighbors, colleagues, people of different backgrounds, people with whom we disagree, and even people we consider our opponents. It requires recognizing something deeper and more fundamental that connects us.
